"...Intriguing, fast-paced, and mysterious...a great first novel for a series! Wyatt gives just enough answers to feel satisfied about Pia's sanity, but leaves other questions open. On the surface it's a mystery blending the supernatural with a hint of fantasy, but at the heart it's a story of belief. Ferret begs the question of 'which is stronger, the belief we have in ourselves, the belief others have in us, or the belief we have in them?..."-- Liz Konkel, Readers' Favorite, 5 Stars
What a fantastic end to the first installment of The Ferret Books, leaving you to rely on your imagination to fill in the blanks on some things, because you really don’t know what happened. It kind of reminds you of the movie The Happening. Except with Ferret, you can expect the mystery solved in the upcoming book—which I can’t wait to get my hands on!
With awesome characters, great writing, suspenseful mystery and delicate romance, Ferret is entertaining and has something that will appeal to all readers. I started reading this book expecting to like it. The cover, eye-catching, and the beginning pages, intellectually alluring, and it didn’t disappoint; it was an absolute page-turner.
I would recommend the book especially to literary fiction readers (preteens to adults) who would appreciate elements of the supernatural/paranormal that sheds light of the saying "life is stranger than fiction." -- Melissa C., Readers' Favorite
"...An intriguing read, packed full of mystery and suspense. The plot is interesting, somewhat unique and unpredictable, which I like in a book [and] it shows incredible imagination and creativity. It's a page-turner and one that will enthrall any teenager or adult alike, especially those who like thrilling endings that leave you hanging, waiting for Volume 2. Great debut novel, I'm looking forward to the next installment." -- Anne-Marie Reynolds, Readers' Favorite, 5 Stars
"...A brilliantly crafted story, original and with amazing, believable world-building (even for being a paranormal/fantasy) and Wyatt's writing really is really descriptive and easy to follow. I liked how this story started off really intriguing (with us learning about the weird experience Pia had) and just got bigger and more complex. It is romance/fantasy/mystery/suspense all in one, but is more surreal than many I've read. Not only is it beautifully written, but it is impressively complex and layered, with an almost psychological edge that makes you really think--just the way I like my fantasies, and I suppose my reading generally.
"And while it still has the familiar vibe that most standard YA/NA Paranormals have, it still feels fresh and original enough and is definitely unpredictable, especially towards the end. I chuckled at some of the dialogue and really enjoyed watching Pia and Cameron 'evolve' as the story progresses, and was genuinely surprised by the ending. But it worked perfectly and makes us want the next one ASAP!. Recommend for fans of Paranormal/scifi who want a more complex, original tale than most that's out there." ---

"This is an intriguing story that teens will find absolutely captivating. Even though it is intended for a younger generation, this 77-year-old grandmother found it totally fascinating." -- Joanne Jordan, educator
"Ferret is an engaging tale that had me hooked from the first page." -- Kitty Lutness, teacher, writer
"Ferret...was an entertaining, emotional, almost surreal, fantasy/sci-fi novel that pushes the boundaries of typical YA literature. It probably took me until almost half way through to really get hooked, but once I was, I was all in and didn't want to put it down until I was finished. I've read a lot of teen/young adult and it's hard to surprise me, but this book did more than once. I am in awe of the author's imagination and ability to weave together a story that is both fun, but also complex enough to keep us interested and has several good messages for younger readers to consider. It was actually quite profound at times, especially at the end. Well-written and unpredictable, even if it does contain some familiar tropes necessary for a YA paranormal/romance.
"C.C. Wyatt gives a unique spin on the magical-heroine-adventure motif, and I don't feel like it's just a clichéd re-telling. In fact, I've never read anything that felt like this before, and it was entirely unpredictable. Oh, loved that Oprah makes a cameo too, haha. This is the first book in a series so the story is only just beginning - can't wait to see what happens next! Appropriate for most ages, teen on up." --- Marcella Gonzales, Goodreads
"A journey full of mystery and suspense that piqued my curiosity to the end. A captivating read!" -- Ladjamaya Green, actor
"This is a fascinating, well-written tale about a sixteen-year-old girl who has weird visions and takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of why she’s having them. Teens will love this story loaded with mystery, suspense and fantasy, all twisted in a plot that will take you by surprise, and then take you on an adventure that will have you on edge until the end. The setting, the description and the dialogue were so well done that the scenes came to life on page. And I have to say, one of my favorite scenes was the Oprah scene, one that caught me by surprise. This author indeed has a way with words. So I suggest putting this book at the top of your to-read list." --- Amazon Customer
"C.C.’s writing style is intriguing, one of a kind. She started chapter one with this: “In theory, there’s only one day that comes and goes in precise intervals, that’s unaware of itself and its unique charm.” Chapter one sets the tone for the story and it grabs you. I wanted to know what really happened to Pia Wade that night she vanished in her sleep. And knowing that Cameron was key to Pia’s mystery, I couldn’t wait to meet him. And that could be why I thought chapter two was kind of slow, yet effective to the story unfolding. But the story really takes off and heightens anticipation as it takes you on a suspenseful journey after the two meet.
"Fate is a great theme for this novel, in spite of Pia’s visions and weird dreams. And in spite of her investigation turning into romance, no matter how hard she tried to resist. Just go grab a copy because the book is well worth the read and I don’t want to spoil the suspense. But I will add this: I love a good cliffhanger." --- Amazon Customer
"I was really impressed by this book. The author’s style of writing is unique that I honestly can’t compare her to any other author I’ve read. Her storytelling is entertaining and the scenes are crystal clear, as if you’re in the scene yourself. And the main characters are well rounded and believable. The plot in itself was clever and unpredictable. I didn’t want to put it down, turning page after page until the end. And even then, I wanted to turn another page. So of course, I will be in line waiting for the second book." --- Favor, Amazon Customer
"I really enjoyed “Ferret” by C.C. Wyatt for many reasons, but I think what I liked the most about this book was just the overall feel the author managed to create where it felt intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really awesome story that I didn’t want to stop listening to, with more ups and downs than a twisted roller coaster. We really feel like we are inside Pia’s head experiencing it all with her- really INSIDE the story as opposed to being on the outside looking in (which seems to happen so much!) There are some surprising parts that really catch you off guard… but that just made the book even more addicting. Loved the Bermuda Triangle element and while I don’t normally love time travel as a plot device it does work well here. Great tension throughout and it was unlike anything I’ve read before and I read a lot, especially YA. Great pacing and editing. I hope the next book is published soon because that is a serious cliffhanger ending!" --- Tabitha, Goodreads
